Abandoned caravan on land

Hi.
I have asked solicitor about this but wanted your opinion.
I have purchased a house with some land on the back that the seller got through adverse possession.
The land registry has it under my name now after buying it.
Problem is there is a caravan on that land, in good condition. How can I get rid of it? I can put it on online to giveaway free but want my back covered.
The seller says it belonged to one of his tenant but his a bit sketchy about the details and can't give me name and details.
Any suggestions? Online it says I can contact police but that's for vehicles, does caravan count?

No, a caravan isn't a vehicle, and the police aren't going to do anything about it. Did you agree in your contract with the vendor that the caravan was staying?0

I would anyway position it on the boundary to make removal very easy from the road.
Of course if someone else put a large sign up stating caravan free to take away, who knows what would happen.0 -
Artful lodger or artful dodger? Good idea.
No didn't agree on the caravan, it's one of those on wheels, ones Top Gear would have loved to have to blow up!!
I have a feeling it's someone on the street, it does have a number plate on it so I'll search that with vehicle registration database or drive around the street at night if I can see the van with same plate.0 -
All recent caravans and some older ones are CRIS registered, look here https://www.cris.co.uk and ask them if it is listed.0

I would imagine you'd need to follow the same procedure as landlords with tenants' property left behind? Which I believe involves making "reasonable efforts" to contact them with a "reasonable" deadline to pick up their property. After that you can dispose of it (although if you sell it, the proceeds, less certain costs, normally belong to the tenant and I don't know how that works if you couldn't contact them.)0

How much of a hurry is getting rid of it?
How long have the tenants been gone?
How long did they live there?
Have you changed council tax utilities yet?
A few options.
Ask around the nearby houses.
Ask the postman
Ask the nearest pub/shop.
In time some post might arrive.
Go to the local sorting office they may be able to pass something on if they have any registered redirects(without telling you who/where)
Council paper electoral role.
Google address.
If you can find a letting advert the agents might be able to help.
...
Reg might come up with something to help look locally

Whereabouts are you?
I'm after a caravan while I build my cabin...0 -

I think you mean it is a touring caravan. So should be reasonably easy to manoeuvre. If you put the reg no. into the Cazana website it will give you make, model and age of the possible towcar. If you are querying your Council Tax band would you please state whether you are in England, Scotland or Wales0
