Thank you all for helping start to improve my credit score a lot more work to do.
Remember - you're not aiming to improve your credit score but to improve your credit history.
Ignore any positive or negative fluctuations in your score0 -
In your OP of 29th January you say that you are thinking about getting a Vanquis card.
You are claiming this success in your April credit report.
Are you not being slightly premature?
How many 'paid in full every month' statement periods can possibly be shown on your April credit report? My best guess would be 0, maybe 1 depending on when your first statement was issued and Vanquis reporting date.0 -
vanquis are very crafty, they only allow you to pay the minimum or the full amount when you log on to your account, they want you to pay the minimum so that they can get interest from you, you have to phone them if you want to pay another amount, Also you have to phone them to find out the interest they are charging, its not on your online account0

They’re not crafty however much you spam the forums.
Your interest rate is in your agreement you sign and agree too.
You’d be stupid to have any credit builder card and only pay the minimum0 -

You could flip that argument and say they want you to pay the full statement balance.
Here's a screenshot from Vanquis' website:
It asks "How much would you like to pay?"0 -
Hi, All
Just had a look at my ClearScore account and it’s showing this message
Upcoming Updates
The credit utilisation rate of your Vanquis credit or store card will change on your September report.
I have been using the card as normal spending about £250 on it a month and paying it back on time this month I have spent a little more about £330 but I have paid about £150 back to bring it down to below 50%
I know this will hurt my credit rating so annoyed at myself0 -

As already stated above, you don’t have a credit score or rating to be affected.
So long as you clear the balance in full each month there’s no need to make ad-hoc payments.
Stop fretting over useless CRA score bolstering advice.0 -
What's the limit on your card, still £250?
You can use the card as much as you like, ie buy a PS4 for £240 on it, then pay it off (or some of it off) a few days later ... then go out and but a PS4 VR kit thing, pay it off and then go buy some games. I don't think it matters if you spend / repay £200 3 times between statements, that won't really get reported on your file, it's just what you pay and when you pay it in regards to the statements.
Just be careful and make sure any payments to Vanquis are cleared (takes a few days) before you use it again, so just check your balance.
The Vanquis App is great, if you don't have it, get it.0
