Is This a Good or Bad Sign?

I recently started a claim for a loan taken out 20 years ago with Halifax. I only sent my questionnaire back yesterday, but had a text this evening (one day later) to say that my query is almost complete and I will receive a letter soon.

I know it's like asking how long is a piece of string, but generally is this a good or bad sign?

Thanks!

It is what it is... unfortunately you will just have to wait and see, may just be nothing more than an acknowledgment

If you had no PPI = good sign as you weren't miss-sold

Sam Vimes' Boots Theory of Socioeconomic Unfairness:

People are rich because they spend less money. A poor man buys $10 boots that last a season or two before he's walking in wet shoes and has to buy another pair. A rich man buys $50 boots that are made better and give him 10 years of dry feet. The poor man has spent $100 over those 10 years and still has wet feet.

  • When they sent out the questionnaire the acknowledgement letter had an account number listed, so is that a sign I had PPI on it?

No. It's a sign that you made a complaint about PPI.
  • I phoned the bank this morning. It was indeed a good sign. They're paying me a four figure sum into my bank account within the next 28 days!

It's funny how unknowingly being "miss sold" a financial product and being oblivious to the fact your paying for something you didn't need is considered a good thing these days :rotfl:

I suppose at least the 8% interest is more than you'd have got in the bank, it's a sort of savings scheme ;)

Yes that is a good point. You could have gotten a better return by investing in the stock market over that time, but it has worked out well for the "financially oblivious" :p .
