Main dealership insisting on bank transfer

I agree I had to threaten the main dealer with legal action after the warranty refused to pay out. They said sorry warranty says it won't pay so not our problem. On the final day from my warning letter they coughed up.
Dealers have ALWAYS accepted card payment. Has their card machine being taken from them for some reason?
They could be chasing cash flow after the banks put restrictions on them..
In addition I sold a Honda Jazz to a main Honda dealer. Two weeks later they closed up. It does happen.
Sorry I'd go elsewhere.0 -

Nearly every dealer I haver come across has a restriction on the amount paid by card after which they either don't take it or pass on the handling charge to the customer.0 -
I've come across it once. I said I'll go elsewhere and the Sales Manager intervened.0

They're not allowed to do this anymore (so I believe) ... all payment methods must incur the same charges and result in the same selling price.
Not accepting debit cards is a strange one as they come with a very small, fixed processing charge that is independent of the transaction amount, unlike credit cards which are a percentage of the transaction amount.Proud member of the wokerati, though I don't eat tofu.Home is where my books are.Solar PV 5.2kWp system, SE facing, >1% shading, installed March 2019.Mortgage free July 20230 -
Yes I can understand refusing credit card due to the fee v total but debit?0

What real difference is there between paying by debit card and bank transfer?
Anyways, who pays over £10,000 for a car that has a flat battery? That to me sounds more of an issue than the requesting a bank transfer.
It's not so much the debit card bit as getting them to agree to take even the smallest amount on a credit card to ensure Section 75 protection.0
