Speeding Offence in Company Vehicle
Options
Hi,
I know various questions are asked in relation to speeding offences in company vehicles, but I couldn't find anything that applied to my situation.
My vehicle is provided by my company and assigned to me. The lease company do not hold details of who is the user of the vehicle.
As a consequence, whenever fines are received for speeding , parking, bus lane etc, the notification goes to the lease company who then provide the details of the company. A new notice then goes to the company, who give my details.
I was caught short at the end of October by a mobile camera van. The 172 was sent within 14 days to the lease company, who provided details of my company. A revised 172 was then sent to my company asking for driver details. I was emailed by the transport department asking for all licence details, and replied straight back. They then passed on these details to the Police.
I know the requirements have been met in relation to notification.
My question is, that was over 6 weeks ago, and I have heard nothing. My transport department assure me they passed my details on, and I have the email confirming I passed them the required details. Am I clutching at straws hoping that there has been some kind of system error, or should I be contacting the ticket office demanding my ticket?
I have a clean licence and always have in the 22 years I have been driving, but appreciate I was at fault otherwise I wouldn't have been caught. I was doing 50 in a 40, although it is not an excuse, the section of road is a dual carriageway with barrier in a non built up area.
Many thanks...

Do you have an insurance policy in your own name, or are you a named driver on another policy? If not, then you might deem the extra tenner good value for half a day.
As far as timing goes, I doubt they'll have "forgotten" you. I'm surprised that they've not issued you your own NIP yet, but I don't think it's a showstopper.0 -
At the moment, you have no responsibility to do anything. You have not received any notice in your name.
If the reply from your company wasn't sent to, or received by, the police then it is the company who will have to deal with any enquiries/consequences.
However - the offer of speed awareness courses is time limited, usually to within about 4 months of the offence ( to allow time for a prosecution if you fail to attend).
You can sit and do nothing and hope it has slipped through the system (which can happen, but is unlikely), or if you want the option of a course , rather than points, you could ring and chase it up yourself.
Before doing anything I would check that the company supplied your current , and fully 100% correct, contact details - if not, that could complicate matters for you.0
