Morning all,
Tiny bit of snow last night that has frozen,DH tells me the pavements are lethal-just what you need when you take a 10st dog out :DI can only find 1 yaktrax too so I'll have to empty the boiler cupboard at some point today.
Tea last night was beef stew from the freezer and I made dumplings to go with it.I really wanted to make a samosa pie with filo pastry but didnt have any mince.I usually have stacks of the stuff! anyway order gone to the butchers on Fb last night. Will have another look to see what I can find for today.
DS hasnt gone to work,he can hardly walk.It started yesterday. He's had it before and it eases off after a couple of days.
Sorry you and Lee had a bad night dumpling,so the last thing is your friend calling again so soon.Enjoy your sisters visit though.
Hope Steve feels better soon Snoozer x & also you Taff x
Csarina glad you got your eye done,& what a lovely friend.
OL,:Tto Prodigals flat.
Gers enjoy your quiet day.
Right better get dogwalking, the traffic at the top of the road near the park should have eased off ,it's en route to a school and it's hard to cross if you dont time it right.Good days all:heartsmil 'A woman is like a teabag: You never know her strength until you drop her in hot water'. Morning all...Feel like something the cat couldn't even be bothered to drag in..However, the night briqutte thing worked again, huzzah, and the fire is now finally roaring away. It leaves the fire still warm with a little glowing lump to restart it, and it was cool enough to clean the door [ I do like a shiny door to see the flames] so I did that, awkwardly, but I did it ...
Today is already bloody freezing and snow is forecast so am very happy to have this fire. If not, the heating bills would be horrendous, it also has the added benefit of keeping the upstairs bedroom a bit warmer. I know it cost a lot to install etc, but totally worth it. After the electric blanket, it's my second best buy, our first best buy.
The little prince stayed the night, we opened the door several times for himt o go and he just looked at us like we were crazy. No cat food in the house so Igave him a mini tin of tuna which was gone quicker than you could blink [ a few times]
Had visitors on sunday so there is still cake left [ all three brought cake] and some flowers which are nice [ not chrysanthemums, they smell awful]. I think they're agapanthus.
So toast and tablets are done, tea on the go, books to read, upcycle programmes to watch, I'm sorted :Yes snoozer, they are trialling a thing called [acroonym which always makes me laugh] PANTS to make sure people are given anti's asap if they are being treated. Things can develop so quickly it's a great idea, and looks like Steve got sorted quickly. SO, have a good day, TA look after yourself, actually, everyone look after yourself. Thank you for the continuing good wishes too, I'm OK, or will be, reading everyone's days is really helping to feel like I'm not a total social pariah
Fortifying hugs Nelski, don't forget the container! dumpling, too right you should lock the door...hope you're oing well csarina. Wotcha Poppy, Holly.
Swing Tuesday round by the stones

Morning all, very cold here but no ice so far. I may have to put the heating on, the thought if a shower without it is too much even for me.
I'got up at 4 as usual,am going for a walk with a friend later. We will be notable for the amount of layers we will be wearing, extra clothes, coats, hats, scarves and gloves. All accessorised by pink noses..
Then later on, I need to do a little prep work as I'm off to an interview tomorrow for some sessional work. I've had my six months of freedom and it is time I get put there, otherwise I'll lose my skills. Very sadly, I'm less motivated than I should be, when I finished work a lot of friends asked if I'd be bored. I said no and I was right, I'm never bored except if the weather is too fearsome yo go out for more than a few days.
My OH has just got up and is making me some tea. So two treats, cup of tea AND an outing!
Thinking of those of us who are unwell or worried.I was jumping to conclusions and one of them jumped back0 -
Morning all from a damp and dismal mehefinland.
At least no white stuff here but the last week has been a real mixed bag. The girls don't know what to do with themselves what with wind, and rain and more wind etc etc. Trimmed manes on the weekend so at least they don't look as scruffy but still haven't had the break in the weather to get on them - a mixed blessing as I can postpone the John Wayne impressions a little longer
Another not a lot of sleeper here too, but that's mostly because of the racket coming from the airfield we back on to. They are in the process of de-militarising it so that it can comply with civil aviation requirements, so there has been much digging, banging and the place has been lit up like Blackpool at night. Some the work can only be done in the night as the airfield is active in the daytime. Its been going on for weeks now as they work their way along the runway. Never mind should all be finished soon.
That's about it for now
Hugs and spoons as always to those in need. Keep warm folks

Morning ((((((((((hugs)))))))))) if you need one.
Eye is open, but bloodshot (Sorry too much info) the pupil is still enlarged, should be ok by tomorrow, have bathed it, OH put my drops in, breakfast and now on the settee. doing nothing. There is enough shepherds pie for tonight, so will get OH to make extra gravy, apple crumble for dessert. Tomorrow will be cooking with help. I have rung the Dr this morning and asked for a call back, need to get the BP sorted. I hope she will be able to sort me out over the phone. Cannot get down to the surgery.
Slept ok, I was awake on Sunday night so knew I wuld sleep last night.
Frost again this morning and snow forecast for later today and the next 3 days, Ah....bliss, thankfully I did a 2 week shop ast week and we have tins etc in so we should be ok.
Well done Dumpling, make sure you keep the door locked, you have visitors anyway you do not need moaner on the settee all day.
Taff - sorry to her you are not feeling too good, hope you improve.
Snoozer, hope Steve's temperature goes down with the anti bi's and he feels better soon.
Take care everyone, it looks like we are in for a bit of a blast,,,,,,,,0 -
Good morning chums and none of the white stuff yet in Kent although its forecast for tonight I hope it's not too bad, as its my night out at the pub quiz and I really enjoy that.
Just had an email to say my new coat which I found online hopefully will be delivered today by Parcel force so I am hoping it comes this morning as I shall be at Dds after lunch for the dogs , boys etc.
I also have just sent off the bookings for the ferries to the IoW for our spring break in April. We go to a privately owned caravan for five days every April and its great to start the spring this way just before Easter so the boys like the break as well.So the thought of a break on our beloved IoW in just over 9 weeks time is a nice thought to get us through the rest of the winter
Started a new blanket for my gt,granddaughter last night as she loves the one I made her but cries when her Mum takes it away for a wash so she will have a spare one within a month hopefully
Right time to get the kettle on Hope everyone is well wrapped up and warm and dry today and ready for the artic blast thats due
Take care chums

Morning everyone,
Glad to read that the operation was a success Csarina, rest up today.
Hoping that Steve starts to feel better soon Snoozer.
No snow here yet but it’s due to arrive around 5pm, been out & about and it doesn’t feel as cold as it did yesterday with no biting wind, ho hum it’s winter so what do we expect.
Lu has been on a mini sabbatical Mehefin, the lunge pit and school have been frozen at times plus think it’s good for them to get a little holiday during the winter months.
Thinking of all our poorlies, have a good day folks x0 -
Hello all
I slept well last night mind you I didn't take much rocking after yesterday
.
We have already been out to check the van and then around the corner to Morries for milk and oranges in case the snow arrives. ( I think DD and the DGC were praying for a couple of feet last night, but there's nothing yet
) I also bought some new matching mugs as ours are on their last legs. I rang Dad to see if he needed anything, but got the answer machine so I presume he's out too...... I will ring him as per usual tonight. It was very quiet in Morries until you reached the tills, they only had 3 open and long queues for each one . That's one reason why I don't normally shop there.
This afternoon I shall try to make order out of the chaos left from yesterday :rotfl:. At a snails pace I hasten to add, I need to tidy up the spare room and put the beds down, put the toys and craft stuff away and sort out the disarray in the fridge . Mr Fix It will help, he has no option, even though he's at deaths door apparently
.
The pizza making was a success yesterday and we still have a couple of slices left, so we will finish them off for lunch. Tea will probably be a spanish omelette with some leftover crusty bread. There are a few bits of peppers, mushrooms etc and will need using up, so an easy tea :j.
Right enough rambling, it's time for more tea
. Then I must start thinking about doing something !
Sending healing vibes to Csarina, Snoozers Steve, Taff, Poppy and Holly. Hope I haven't forgotten anyone, apologies if I have.
Peaceful vibes are going to Nelski, Organza Lace, Dumpling and Lee and anyone who is struggling today.
Gers thanks for the thoughts last night about chilling....... I was more like comatose :rotfl:
Take care all, stay safe and warm especially those who have to go out or to work.
nan xxFailure is simply the opportunity to begin again, but this time more intelligently0 -
Very cold here today, sleet and snow tonight......hope that they have it wrong, I had snow.
Think that we are going out for lunch, I need to return some books to the library and do a bit of shopping, we have no vinegar or cheddar cheese, also need veg and fruit as I am trying to up the fruit and veg in my diet.
Sympathy and good wishes to those who cannot sleep, those who are I'll or caring for I'll relatives.
Glad to hear that your op went well Csarina
Dumpling.....hope that Lee is feeling better soon.
Probably be back later.
Have a good day, stay safe and warm.

Just back from my coffee meet up with my friend. We were greedy piggies today. Had our usual coffees x2 and cake, then decided to treat ourselves to lunch as well. We had the beer battered cod etc we had last time as we had really enjoyed it. We have decided that in future we will forego the cake and stay out for lunch instead! We agreed it was a bit greedy to have both!
We followed on with a browse of the shops (still sales on everywhere) but nothing tempted us .Just the intended moisturiser and some Pears soap went in my bag.
The snow is falling here now but not settling - yet! I think the worst is forecast to come around teatime.
What a worry for you SNOOZER. I hope STEVE feels better today. TAFF, CSARINA and LEE too.
Enjoy the rest of the day folks. It's feet up for me now and a little nap would be nice if I could drift off and catch up on a bit of sleep. xx"If you dream alone it will remain just a dream. But if we all dream together it will become reality"0
