That's mist. Not fog. Proper fog is rare, but when it occurs, you KNOW the difference.

If fog is rare, why do drivers have their fog lights on so often :j

Because they're idiots who think it looks cool.

Or because you don't know the difference between front fog lights and DRLs.

Wow people are hating on these lights. I've got em and they are useful and illuminate the bend when you are turning even though the xenons turn with the wheel they give that little bit more. Mine also both come on when reversing. No idea why. These are in the main lighting cluster, not the fogs. My fogs are pretty good too. But not for use when vision isn't restricted.

I have had two cars with the cornering headlights (Skoda and a SEAT) - both have Xenon headlights and when on country lanes between certain speeds, as you start to go around a bend, the headlights turn slightly to illuminate the bend - they do help.

Re the corning lights - that are often a separate bulb to the actual fog light bulb although in the same housing, they can be useful in some circumstances to see the curb but not a game changer - I actually think that due to front indicators often been built into the main headlamp and not as visible, the corning lights are deployed to show a car is turning as some cars, the light comes on when indicating!
  • I've got them on my Ford. Waste of time IMHO.

They also have the potential to confuse the [STRIKE]more stupid[/STRIKE] less clued up motorists.

Wasn't there a thread on here where someone thought they were a new type of indicator?

I don't think I've ever hit a curb when turning without having it illuminated by a fog light. Still, it's a wonderful thing to be able to say in the brochure for car manufactures I suppose.

I'd rather have some of 007's accessories like front facing machine guns or the rear oil slick thing.

Don't even start me on the utterly abysmal styling-led design of modern lighting...

Feel the need to dim a DRL when the indicator's in use? It's an admission of failure, because they're too bloody close to each other...
