The neighbours reckon that the previous owner paid about £4k or £5k for them, which sounds about right. I know from my own experience that bills were over £500 more per year with them than without them. As you say it must be the Fischer magic clay that continues to get hotter even after the power turns off that creates this magic.

I have no advice. Nor have I read the whole thread.
However, I also live in a 2 bed flat (not in Leeds) and use electric when appropriate. Hsatitand cooking is also electric.
My DD is £55pcm, meaning £660 per year.
No idea how you can be £1000 more!!0
