Halfords car trolley jack twisted

We have a 2 tonne trolley jack from halfords, bought last summer. Used it a few times, the recently I used it to jack up one corner of our Audi A4 and its twisted out of shape
Do I have any rights regarding a replacement or refund?

You might have a claim for a repair (unlikely to happen)replacement or refund which could be a partial refund but it depends on a couple of things.
Do you have a receipt? and if asked to, you would have to prove that the damage was due to a manufacturing defect such as poor materials or incorrect assembly and not due to misuse (such as using it to lift a vehicle that was too heavy for it).0 -
Thanks Shaun
No reciept, i wasnt expecting it to collapse, my dad's had the same trolley jack for about 20 years, I just assumed it would always work
And no proof of what it was lifting, other than we only own the A4, but that doesnt mean anything to them I guess
Looks like it will be a case just to not shop there again0 -
Even without a receipt or other proof of purchase, there's no harm in taking it back to Halfords and asking if there is anything they could do. You might find the manager in a good mood and he may exchange it.0

Those small cheap ones are rubbish, get a decent one. Mines over 20 years old and i would trust it more than one of those small ones sold by argos and halfords etc.Censorship Reigns Supreme in Troll City...0
