Smear test results

having previously had LLETZ under general for CIN3 cells I am always worried when I go for my smears now.
My results have come back saying no HPV was found therefore my risk of cell changes in very low and they did not have to look at my cells due to this, but I didn't have hpv before when I did have cell changes, should I be concerned?

That's a tough one given your previous experiences. A lot of trusts are now just screening samples for HPV and if negative don't look further. I would have thought given your previous diagnosis your sample would have been checked more thoroughly. Perhaps seek some advice from your GP.0

This is a bit close to asking for medical advice for this forum, this thread will probably be closed down. If you can’t get to see your GP I’d suggest you drop into your local sexual health (formerly family planning) clinic and ask them, I’ve always found the staff to be very knowledgeable and helpful.0

Hi folks
Please always seek advice from a health professional if you have any queries rather than discussing it here.
Thank you!
We're leaving the thread open in the hope it may encourage anyone not going for a smear test to go.

Anyone reading this who's ignored the letter to make an appointment to have their smear done...please...please....make your appointment.
My daughter nearly didn't go for hers last August, single mum with two children, just started a new job, but thankfully she did. Abnormal cells found, biopsy done, got told nine days later it was cancer!!
She's since had a hysterectomy and thankfully it hadn't spread so no chemo or radiation. Appointments every three months for check ups for the first two years and then six monthly ones for another three years, She told me she felt the fittest and healthiest she felt for years, yet all of that was happening inside her.
I know it's not the nicest of things to have done, but it could save your life. If she hadn't of gone...well, I'm sure you all know what the outcome could of been. It only takes a few minutes to do, but having cervical cancer will stay with you for the rest of your life.0 -
I’ve been reading a lot of stuff lately about how awful smear tests are. For me, minor discomfort and slight embarrassment, helped by the professionalism of the staff. Again if you’re concerned about having a bad experience please do go to sexual health clinic - a friend with a tilted cervix said it’s the only place it’s been easy for her. Please don’t put it off!0

In my area some beauty saloons are actually offering incentives for girls to go and have one done ie money off treatments. Really can't believe it, shall I wait for some sort of offer next time my mammogram due? No, I'll make the appointment and have it done. In this country we are so lucky that this screening is offered to us, people should take some responsibility for their own health.0

I really can't believe women choose to skip this.. are they mad??? In Spain it's done every year, here in the UK it's every 3 years so I do a private one in the middle as 3 years feels too long for me.0

I have it done in Spain (just because I like my clinic) and the complete checkup including the test and ultrasound costs about 130€. I once looked to have it done in London and prices were not very different, but I didn't know how to choose a place without any recommendation and I decided to carry on doing it in Spain, as I go quite often.0

37 year old - first time as achieved today as I nearly become convinced this would be a wasted appointment. Ended up having a smear test with extra swabs. It's done in minutes.
Childless, sexless/virginity, weight issues, other bodily issues, embarrassment - no reason to never go.0
