Hi,
We're looking to get our house on the market in the couple of months and apply for a mortgage.
I have 2 credit cards 1 which has a outstanding balance and one which is empty. I wanted to make a 0% transfer to my other card. i was wondering if this is classed as "applying for credit" i read you should not apply for credit 3 months prior to applying for mortgages but wasn't sure if a balance transfer to an existing card is classed as a credit or if a search is recorded on file.
Thank you.

Go for it. You're not applying for credit.
It's a lot better than going in to the mortgage application carrying interest bearing debt.0 -
Applying for credit is exactly that - applying for a new bank account, loan, credit card, etc. Moving money between existing credit cards does not count towards this as the lending facility is already set up. I'd definitely recommend transferring an interest-bearing balance to a 0% offer if you have the means, you're only hurting your affordability scoring for your mortgage application otherwise!0
