Car insurance auto renewal

Is there anyway you can avoid auto renewals on car insurance. Our car is insured through One Call Insurance, The renewal quote received was far to expensive, got a much better offer from RAC, but getting the One Call Policy renewal stopped has been difficult. A hour on phone yesterday in queues, getting no where. Tried again this morning 40 mins, ok I got through, and they have cancelled renewal. Its so annoying, the phone calls are not cheap,I'm sure they try and make it so difficult you will just give up, there is Chat Line, when you can get on it, but they don't do cancellations.

Pretty sure under some law passed a few years ago, financial services phone rates are just standard numbers - so should fall under you're normal minutes package.
It's just one of those things, if you buy your policy over the phone, ask them to stop Auto-renewal, however some might not let you opt out and request that you call in like you've had to do.You'll find me sat in the corner with a pack of dry roasted and a Guinness.0 -

they should be local rate and available to be included in free minute packages. What makes you think they are not cheap rate calls? Is there anyway you can avoid auto renewals on car insurance.
You can still get plans that do not automatically renew. you can also get providers the auto-renew but take instructions via their website portal. If you perhaps avoid the bottom end of the market, the quality of messaging will be better.I am an Independent Financial Adviser (IFA). Choose a policy/company that doesn't use it.
Do be aware though that they might not be the best value.
Personally I look for best value for reasonable cover and then put an entry in my on-line calendar. It's not that hard, but obviously it's your choice if you want to make it your main criteria.0 -
Phone calls made on landline, so I have to pay. I will look to see if I can find company who does not auto renew. Only problem I have with the auto renew is contacting them, they just wont accept I want to cancel it, want to know who I am going with, how much I am going to pay. Im sorry but if they quoted X.amount as there lowest price I am not interested if I've found something ( 99% the same cover,£50.00 cheaper ). Trouble is they hide all the auto renew details. You should just be able to log in to your account and say NO I don't want to renew, such a fuss is made over the online side of it, but there devious and hide everything. This is a system account and does not represent a real person. I'm with One Call, too late now but for future, I tend to phone as soon as they are open.
I did phone Hastings once around 5pm - peak time but had no choice as needed something solved, had them on loud speaker while I did some ironing and dishes - decent background music too.0
