    Morning all.

It's cold here though I'm not going to moan as snow is forecast for tomorrow. No frost so far.

I'm off to the bank shortly and then going to collect my new fender for the stove which a colleague has made for me. Burning embers jump out when I load more wood, some has already burnt the front of my carpet. I'm more worried about not catching them in time. The fender won't be fancy, just needs to be functional.

Later today I'm going to see the practice nurse - my left ear is becoming hearing impaired. With a bit of luck it'll just be gunged up!

Apart from that I'm having a quiet day, it will be productive when I get behind my laptop for more serious stuff later.:rotfl:

    Happy Monday to everyone.
  • Morning chums sun is shining here in Kent although apparently my eldest said when she rang at 7.45 that it was very nippy out .Bless her she rings every day on the dot on her way to work to make sure I am OK and alive and kicking :).

Today I am having a paper decluttering day and trying to get lots of stuff shredded and bagged up before the dustmen come tomorrow for the recycling.

Not quite sure of what I shall have for dinner as I shall be freezer diving again, I fancy some fish and I have a feeling there is some nice cod somewhere in there which I may have with some veg for a change

Hope everyone has a good day and keeps warm and well wrapped up

    Cheers chums

Hello everyone, cold here too but bright. I took a flying start at the housework this morning and tidied up after last night's Reiki session. I have a Reiki swap to look forward to tomorrow afternoon, it'll be great to lie down, get covered in a soft blanket and drift off.

The wind yesterday was so strong and so biting that we lasted 15 minutes on the Sunday stroll. Our feet took us to the local Sainsbury's cafe. It has what I think must be the best view of any supermarket cafe in Scotland, taking in the hinterland of the River Forth, the Wallace Monument and the beautiful Ochils. Once we'd warmed up, our route back was only five minutes, but bitterly cold.

I'm off for a swim soon. I've got out of the habit but have agreed with a chum that whenever possible we'll go together.

Hoping everyone is keeping warm and cosy. Virtual hugs to all poorlies, and wishing everyone the best afternoon and evening possible. xxx

Had a day of ups and downs!

Upside - the fender fits and does the job. Whilst it's not the most attractive thing in my house it's not ugly, it's well made and painted black.

Downside - my ear is not gunged up so I'm being referred to audiology. In the scheme of things it's not the worst that can happen to me, it's just another sympton of advancing age. My DM is almost totally deaf and finds it distressing as she can't listen to music, go to the theatre etc. Her cousin had a cocheal implant which eventually led to his death as he couldn't get the volume adjusted properly, turned it off, didn't hear an approaching bus when out cycling and was hit by it. Such is life!

Upside - my new spiraliser arrived and has already been tested. It's got five blades so I still have four more to test. It's almost faffy but not quite.

On the way home I went to do a little shopping, picked up a bag of frozen peas which turned out to have been slashed and had a large gap through which a load of the peas tumbled! Seems as if the person stocking up had been too vigorous with the knife when opening the box. Now I've got my peas simmering to make soup.

There's a yellow weather warning out for snow and ice for tonight and tomorrow so I've cancelled my meeting tomorrow and will do it by Skype instead. Not venturing out in any snow. I've brought in extra logs for tomorrow.

I'm now wrapped up in my lovely electric throw with a cup of tea. I hope everyone has a peaceful evening.

Evening! Late to the party today [ and a no show yesterday] Didnt sleep well yesterday or the day before, I wasn't expecting to though to be honest, having a thing sticking out of you is not conducive to a good nights sleep and it was on the sofa to which has seen comfier days...However, I bought some night briquette things [ seduced by FB advertising] which are supposed to keep your fire lit all night enough to keep it warm and easily lit again in the monring, and Im happy to report it worked a treat [ door was horrendously marked with deposits but I burned most of them off today]

Also had a delivery of wood from the fastest responder in the world [ I asked about nine o clock, he turned up at 11!] and that has all been stacked by wonder OH man, who also mostly cooked sunday diner yesterday [ a proper roast] which is a first for him [ I just can't help inerfering so had to make the gravy] There's enough for today as well, no point in making a roast for just one day with the amount of work involved...
For some reason I had a siege mentality thing going on, so having lots of wood and food in the house has alleviated it somewhat, so the fire is going to be burning bright for a couple of days while I ease down Ripley :)
Gers, has you DM thought about t=having the implant? Hope it turns out well for you at your appt...Hope everyone is warmer than they were this morning, wotcha poppy, holly, snoozers steve, hesters OH and TA. Sandbags have been ordered to knock everyone out, look up in case you want to avoid one....

  • Evening all. Specky what does eating frogs mean?
Not a money saving day her, went to get my puncture fixed and discovered 2 needed 3 new tyres! £120 for 3 Is quite good I suppose but it’s an expense I could do without!
Very cold here, we too have a weather warning out for snow and ice. I’m off work tomorrow so won’t be going far!
    Keep warm everyone.
