ZOTAC Charging me even in warranty?

Hi all,

I have two ZOTAC nVidia 970 cards that are still in warranty but they have stopped working. I have been in communication with ZOTAC RMA and they are wanting me to pay £80 for sending them and that doesn't include the return postage?! Is this correct? the original company I bought them from went under a year ago and the cards come with a three year warranty but zotac are not very forthcoming for their support.

Any advice appreciated

Warranties are in addition to your consumer rights so they are free to include whatever conditions they wish into the warranty.

As your rights are with the original company that has gone bust then you are in a take it or leave it scenario.

If you paid by credit card and each was over £100 then S75 is a possibility.
  • As above S75 them if paid with credit card.

This. Although it depends on when the purchase was made too ... the CC company are jointly liable with the seller for the performance of the contract; if the purchase was made, say, 2 years ago then all the CC company has to do is provide a partial refund to account for ownership - the partial refund could potentially "cost" more than what the manufacturer are asking in respect of the warranty.
