Getting A Sky Dish Without Permission

To cut a long story short.

There's 6 tenants( in different flats ) and four of which have a Sky dish for themselves.
I asked my landlord if i could get sky, and they said i'd have to use a communal dish. ( we do not have a communal dish,i even asked sky )

Given that 80% of the tenants here have a discrete sky dish on the back/side of the property, am i in a position to get one also ?

Thanks :j

Did you ask the landlady where the communal dish is? I only recently discovered I can connect to a communal dish but I can't see a dish outside. Do you have an aerial socket with multiple outlets?

Nope. Only one socket which is for terrestrial TV.

    1) Are you aware of what the terms of the leases of each flat are? (not the tenancy agreements, the lease between the flat owner and the uilding's freeholder). Often these leases prohibit aerials.

    2) Are you aware of what the terms of the tenancy agreements?

    3) Either way, the leases and tenancy agreements of the other flats are irrelevant.

    4) what does your tenancy agreement say?

And what do you think your landlady would do if you put a dish up?

Because we can hypothesise but, in the end, it is down to your relationship with the landlady, what your tenancy agreement says (as per G_M) and what chances you want to take

I'm pretty sure the signals can share one cable. My 4 outlet box for tv, DAB/FM and two satellite is fed by two cables but they are unmarked and when fitted it didn't matter where they went as the faceplate split the signals.
As the landlady has suggested there is a communal dish ask her how to access it or ask the neighbours if they are able to use it and if so how.

Just sent a polite email to the block manager. Explaining there is no communal dish, however four other tenants have their own. Not likely it will be a yes, but at least then i’ve tried.

If your only option is shared communal terrestrial TV, the landlord may view Sky/Cable TV as a positive; but if the installers have to use long ladders because you are in a flat, if may cost more for the instalation.
