So we are currently waiting to see if NatWest approve a mortgage application. My husband has applied for a single mortgage on his own as he can afford it, but I will be living there too. I am self employed, and have a debt of about 2300 - which I have transferred to a 0% interest card and will pay almost half of with January's pay. We have a joint bank account meaning we are financially linked.
I know that it can be approved with conditions. My question is could they ring my husband and ask how and why I've got that debt? would that be something they'd want to know before approving the mortgage? I just want to know what could affect our chance really and what possible conditions might be given?

I wouldn't expect them to look at your finances. Our mortgage and house are in my name only. The only details I provided about my husband was his name and relationship to me.Officially in a clique of idiots0

Were you financially linked at the time? Via a joint bank account or anything like that?0

Is part of the deposit for the property coming from you or joint funds?
Even if you are not named on the mortgage. You'll still be assumed to be a financial dependent of the applicant. Lenders are fully aware of the intent of trying to circumnavigate their rules. Old as the hills. A reoccuring question.0 -
Yes some of the deposit is coming from me.
I know that due to being financially linked they could decline because of me, I get that. My friend told me when shr applied they called her and questioned her about things on her credit card etc, i just wondered if they would still do that even though im not on thw mortgage. I was also wondering if they accept with conditions, what sort of conditions could be offered.0
