If you are going upgrade to 10, make sure its the Pro version and you can get these recycled keys for about a fiver which will save you hundreds if you buy from M$ directly. They are also very legal regardless of what others say.

What is the model number or spec for your existing laptop?
The usual recommendations would be replace hard drive with 240gb ssd and update to Win 10
If you insist new laptop, what is your budget?
Absolutely no idea! It's never been the same since I did the free upgrade to Windows 10, had to revert back and been issues ever since.
I appreciate all the comments but whilst I'm good with something's I'm not interested in fixing what I have, prefer to buy new. Budget of about £500.
Took a peek at Chromebooks they seem to be ok, the only software I need to put on would be Microsoft Office.0 -

For basic tasks, chromebook is good enough. It is pretty chep and has a simple interface.0
