So someone from Cabot turned up at your door? Not sure they employ collectors for this as most are call centre based sending letters and making calls to collect. It could have been a CC Bailiff an in which case the dates would fit - the original default has fallen off but Cabot applied for a CCJ upto 6 years after the default/last acknowledgement/payment which will have gone on your credit file and caused the (fictional) score dropping effect, then a warrant of control has been requested causing someone to knock at your door.0
