O/S Daily Sunday 27th January 2019
This is an “over the garden fence” type thread where we chat about everything Old Style and maybe a little bit more. It’s a great, inspiring and motivating thread we start each day to discuss what Old Style things we’re going to do today or what we’ve achieved already. Everyone’s welcome, please do come in, put your feet up (although check the fence hasn’t just been painted first!) and join us for an Old Style natter. The more the merrier!
As this is the Old Style Board, it would be appreciated if posts could include some Old Style content. Please be aware that many people may have small screens, or SLOW internet connections, so please don’t post large pictures, or clip art – links are preferred. When you make a post, if you feel like giving it a title, that will help others that don’t have the time to read everything skim through the thread quickly but if not it's not a problem. Please do not start a new daily thread before you go to bed at night because this often leaves things confusing with two daily threads live at the same time. The idea is that a member would start each new daily thread after they get up in the morning.
Morning everyone
Hugs to those that want/need one x
Happy birthday to those with a birthday x
Now light, very blustery, wet underfoot and still raining steadily, looks like a generally horrible day.
DH and myself enjoying fist peaceful cuppas, and watched some catchup tv, both boys still in their pits.
Dinner last night was mushrooms bruscheta for starters, then prawns in black bean sauce and HM fried rice, which had chorizo sausage, smoked sausage, peppers, onions, bacon lardons, and peas in it, was delicious - plates all cleared and no LO's. Today we'll be having roast lamb, roasties, mash, cauli cheese, broc, carrots, brussels, green beans, peas, yorkshires and gravy. I'll get the pack ups organised for tomorrow also.
Yesterday we visited the parents, so we're not going out anywhere today, just having a chilled day with nice lunch, wine is in the fridge. Looking forward to it as we don't have lamb very often as it's so expensive, hoping it's a nice joint. I got the couple of jobs done in town with DS2 that needed sorting too.
Keep safe and well x

Morning folks and thanks NMLC.
Had a fun evening down at DD's last night for her BF's birthday and thoroughly enjoyed our takeaway pizzas, wedges and mozzarella sticks. DS joined us too as his DP was on a girlie night out. Didn't get to bed till 1.00 am but still awake stupid early.
I think a lazy day is on the cards for me with, hopefully, a nanna nap this afternoon. I am cooking the small gammon joint I got in Aldi for lunch. It looks very lean but they are good at concealing the fatty bits in the middle! Not impressed with my last one because of this and have avoided them for a while. I was sucked in by this one as it was on offer but I may regret it!
It seems our brief respite from the cold weather is over and we are back to chilly days and nights again, with some of the S word forecast mid week.
Have a good day folks if you can and ((HUGS)) for the poorlies, sad, worried or lonely. Thoughts especially with TAFF, HOLLY, POPPY and I hope MR SNOOZER is feeling a bit better. Take care all xx"If you dream alone it will remain just a dream. But if we all dream together it will become reality"0 -
Good morning everyone.
It was a very noisy windy rainy night with more of the same promised for today.
Last night I did a little cooking ready for the week and didn't bother clearing so that's waiting for me.
I will get up soon! Just lazing and surfing for a wee while longer.
Happy Sunday to all.0 -
Morning All
It's gone back to being cold here but a clear day so far with a breeze, I may put the washing out for a blow.
Had a lovely day with DGS yesterday, he was on good form. The only down side is the long drive but the weather wasn't too bad. DD enjoyed her day out too.
I have housework and a few other jobs to do today including some shopping but I don't need very much, mainly fruit and veg.
Have a peaceful Sunday, take care. XX0 -
Good Morning lovelies
Yeah finally managed a sleep in.... for me ..:j Woke at 3.30 as normal then back to sleep till 8. Feel full of energy after nearly 11 hours ...thats a first for as long as I can remember :j
Anyway its lovely blue sky here today but very windy and cold so I think another lock in day is called for ...no argument here.
Had a lovely chill day yesterday although predictably not much got done in the house so will do some bits today.
Moroccan liver and mash last which was very good well worth a go. Today I am planning Honey and garlic chicken which I can throw in the slow cooker soon theres mash left from last night so will have that too. Made a cherry crumble yesterday too but was too full for any last night so will have that today with my favourite squirty cream
Sunday Brunch soon but will use the breaks to tidy I promise
TA hope the gammon is better this time I often find the small joints are like this its like they are off cuts  I mostly but larger joints now and cut them up myself.
nan hope Mr Fix it is better today
Hugs Taff you are so positive
Enjoy your Sunday all0 -
Good morning everyone :hello:
We had very wet and windy weather here last night. I got up for a few hours in the night and knitted a chick as you do. My legs were so painful last night but they have eased this morning and I can walk around again with not so much difficulty.
Steve has made me an enormous cup of tea and some dippy eggs and soldiers for breakfast which has set me up for the day nicely. He is going to make toad in the hole for dinner tonight as well which will be gorgeous I am sure.
I am planning a day of knitting and watching films as I have 48 chicks to make before Easter. I am sure I will manage it but I will maybe get a bit bored of them before then. I am using a mixture of eyelash yarn and normal dk just to change it up a bit.
nmlc, just wanted to say that your meals always sound absolutely delicious and quite often my meal plan will change because of what you have posted.
Hope you all have a lovely day whatever you have planned, take care xx0 -
Good morning all,
A blustery day here with the high winds forecast to last until lunch time. We don't seem to have lost anything but I was awake in the night and it sounded like there were some fairly mobile wheelie bins outside. It's the usual kind of Sunday for us. A bit of tidying, some ironing and a roast dinner later.
Last night I undid most of my latest crochet blanket as of the two colours that I chose to go between the navy blue stripes, one of them (lilac) looked wrong. I found the right colour (deep, dark pink) in my wool stash but will have to buy more of it despite saying no more wool. I can use the colour that didn't look right on the trauma teddies.
Snow you say TA. Well my friend who lives over your side has been furnished with several decent knitted hats after [STRIKE]whinging[/STRIKE] mentioning that he couldn't find one that fitted properly in the shops, so I guess he'll be OK if he has to walk to work. We had frozen hail last week and I thought that I would find driving on it terrifying but it was actually alright. I did go very slowly though. Some people didn't and there were a few accidents.
Nels the HT also managed a rare 11 hour sleep Friday night. Must be something in the air.
dumpling 48 chicks  Oh my word, that's quite a lot. I made three bobble hats and three ordinary hats and thought that six things more or less the same was enough. You're a brave woman
Take care all of you0 -
Morning I am up late for me I did sleep well last night hope it continues. Not a lot to do today we are going out to a friends birthday for lunch so I don’t need to cook as we will just have a snack when we get back just the last of the washing to get dry and put away.0

Morning everyone,
Bright and sunny here today, not sure about the temperature as yet to step outside. We are off to the shops today scouting for a new sofa, furniture shopping is high on my list of least favourite things to do but hey, needs must!
Right, time for the Archers omnibus, have a good day folks x0 -
Morning all
Bright here but very blowy and looks quite cold, perfect day for walking so that's what we will do, we have a French loaf and some brie to take with us and will go and walk for a few hours and blow away some cobwebs and wear the puppy out !!
Dinner tonight is a meal deal thing from M + S a steak with some kind of sauce rosti potatoes and some veg with profiteroles and a bottle of wine (I had better make it a long walk)
Nothing much else to do today I have a towel wash on the go and will have a quick tidy through.
Have good days all and stay warm xx0 -
Morning all, gosh it is windy here, and quite cold.
Nelski I'm very envious if the sleep, I've been managing on a few hours each night all week. Eventually my body will shut down and let me sleep a whole night through and then I'll be back to the waking up at 3. Thee are worse things, I know.
I reported a blocked gully to the council about a week ago and there was a huge gully-suckling machine outside our house at 6.30 thus morning. People do koan a lot about our council services and sometimes they are right but there are some prompt services. I was concerned about this gully as each time it rained, there was a flood across half tge road and it is on a corner, quite busy. If that froze, there could have been accidents as people drive like loons around here.
Yesterday I finished a horse, made some chickens and half a fix, just the other half to do today, plus a dog and that's tge farm set completed. This morning I've made 6 snakes for my friend's granddaughter. She's had a set of Al the little things I make, plus some single toys and jumpers. The snakes were part of a set of safari animals but it seems that she has to have a snake in her picket at all times and a snake to listen to her bedtime story too and these snakes are quite small so inevitably they go walkies or should I say slitheries.
Mum on phone byeI was jumping to conclusions and one of them jumped back0
