British Gas bill after temporary tariff

Hi all, first time poster here hoping for some advice. I recently moved house to a British Gas property with smart meter and took about 6 weeks to sort my energy switch. BG put us on their temporary December tariff and I’ve received my final bill for £255 for 6 weeks which seems incredibly expensive to me. I’d love to hear if other posters agree and more importantly, if there’s anything I can do to challenge this? So annoyed at myself for not switching sooner but never thought they’d be that expensive!

Do the start and end meter readings match the readings you gave British Gas or are they marked as estimates/actual/customer?
What are the readings, dates and tariff costs (kWh, daily standing charges) so some one can check the calculations on the bill.0 -
Unsure as to what the 'Temporary December Tariff' is, but as new occupier at this address, BG should have done as every other supplier does in these circumstances, which is to put you on their expensive 'Standard Variable Tariff'
In a new house you will have no idea of what your annual Gas & Elec consumptions will be, so on the comparision sites enter 3000Kwh for Electric & 12000 for gas.
The projected savings figures they give will of course be inaccucurate, but what your really after are the prices per Kwh and Daily Standing Charge0 -
Is this just Gas or just Electric or dual fuel ?Never pay on an estimated bill. Always read and understand your bill0
