This is an “over the garden fence” type thread where we chat about everything Old Style and maybe a little bit more. It’s a great, inspiring and motivating thread we start each day to discuss what Old Style things we’re going to do today or what we’ve achieved already. Everyone’s welcome, please do come in, put your feet up (although check the fence hasn’t just been painted first!) and join us for an Old Style natter. The more the merrier!
As this is the Old Style Board, it would be appreciated if posts could include some Old Style content. Please be aware that many people may have small screens, or SLOW internet connections, so please don’t post large pictures, or clip art – links are preferred. When you make a post, if you feel like giving it a title, that will help others that don’t have the time to read everything skim through the thread quickly but if not it's not a problem. Please do not start a new daily thread before you go to bed at night because this often leaves things confusing with two daily threads live at the same time. The idea is that a member would start each new daily thread after they get up in the morning.
Morning chums
Yeah its the weekend :T Daytime PJs are on and I am going no where. Yesterday was so long and tiring I very nearly fell asleep during my evening training. Its fine to have a little kip if your a delegate but not if your running it :rotfl:
Group were back to lovely yesterday so at least the hideous drive was not in vain...it was on a military base which was fine bar the very high level of security....I was not even allowed to go to the loo outside the door without an escort  Anyway all good and the crazy week is over.
Plans today are few and far between I'll try for a Saturday tidy and the washing is already on but chillin is high on the agenda. Morning call with my age uk friend then I'll be off to brunch with James
Grabbed some liver out the freezer so the plan is to have a go at Moroccan liver ...managed to get smaller portions this time so if its not brilliant I wont lave weeks worth of stock
Asda arriving later with some stocks for a bit of a cook in tomorrow.
Right no where to dash too bar the kettle so Ill love and leave you and get some catch up tv going

Good morning all
Thank you for starting us off Nelski, enjoy your well earned rest.
Yesterday I seemed to achieve quiet a lot. Freezer in the garage tidied and an up to date inventory, and the same for the freezer in the kitchen. Why isn't there some rule that all packaging is the same size so it all stacks neatly. Vacuumed and tidied (a bit) sc dinner and some put in the freezer for another day. Finished 1000 piece jigsaw.
Not sure what today will bring, looks wet out so maybe stay in, keep warm. Need to change linen on the bed but not sure when I'll get the wm on as I don't like damp laundry hanging around the house and I don't have a td.
Thoughts are with those finding life difficult
Take care allIf you walk at night no-one will see you cry.0 -
Morning folks and thanks NELSKI. Last night's wind and rain have moved on leaving it calm and peaceful out there and up to 9 deg forecast. Wouldn't it be lovely if this mild weather was here to stay!
I should really carry on with the cleaning that ground to a halt yesterday but I have a feeling it won't happen! And I should defrost the freezer in the garage before the cold snap returns and it's too cold to venture out there. I may also make a pan of celery soup as I took my last tub out yesterday and I like to have a variety to choose from!
No fixed plans until late afternoon when I am off down to DD's for the evening. It's her lovely BF's birthday tomorrow so we are having an evening of playing games and eating takeaway pizza.
Have a good day folks and ((HUGS)) for the poorlies, sad, worried or lonely. I hope you are resting TAFF and not trying to do too much too soon. Take care all xx"If you dream alone it will remain just a dream. But if we all dream together it will become reality"0 -
Morning everyone
Nelski - thanks for starting us off x
Hugs to those that want/need one x
Happy birthday to those with a birthday x
DH and I both enjoying first cuppas of the day, although I'm showered, dressed and just finished by brekkie. Both boys are awake too with cuppas, DS2 also has a bowl of cereal, he'll be catching a lift with me so he can go to the gym, DS1 went to get a hair cut and beard trim last night and the hairdresser was closed with a sign in the window saying he would be open again today at 8am, he wants to go early as it's likely to be busy.
Dinner last night was breaded chicken portions, chips/jacket potato, beans/veg for the menfolk. I used up LO's from the fridge, used part can of tuna (left from making packups) and some mashed potato, mixed it together and used beaten egg to bind it together, made into fishcake shapes and baked in the oven, served with side salad and coleslaw - couldn't believe how tasty it was for a meal made out of LO's! But even better no waste. Not sure what we will be eating tonight but will organise that today, I have plenty in.
Yesterday I was reasonably productive, got our bed stripped, all bed linen washed now in the process of getting it dried, also do 2 other loads of washing, so washing basket not too full once I get the work clothes washed this morning. I also got another job ticked off the "to do" list which has been hanging about and needed to be dealt with. Did the ironing too, also sorted out the piles of stuff on the dining room table and the piles of clothes in our bedroom, so both rooms look so much tidier.
This morning I will be heading into town first thing to visit the building society and the bank with DS2 - we have a couple of jobs to attend to, then he'll go to the gym straight from there. I need to organise birthday cards for MIL and nephew, I have MIL's gift which I bought whilst doing the xmas shopping, and is a lovely gift, but I'm going to scale it down and split it up after the insult she gave me for my birthday - to be honest I'd rather get nothing. I can't decide whether she does it deliberately or she is so lacking in people skills she thinks what she does is acceptable - thinking about it, it's likely to be a mixture of both especially bearing in mind her general behaviour over the recent years.
Keep safe and well x

Morning all.
It's dark and damp outside. My gadget tells me that it's 9c just now though the forecast for tomorrow is horrible.
I'm still lounging in bed for a few more minutes. I want to get out to the shops for DM fairly early so I can leave for home. I've got loads of stuff to do and then my time frees up much more.
For breakfast I'll have scrambled eggs with a sprinkling of ham, that'll fill me up.
I hope everyone enjoys their day, happy Saturday to all.0 -
Morning All
Wet and windy outside but quite mild, about 9 degrees. It's lovely to get up when the house is relatively warm.
2 loads of washing done last night, I left one load on the airer near the stove, it's dry this morning. The other load can languish on the rack until later.
I'm going to pick DD up in a bit and we are heading to DS1s to look after DGS whilst DS goes to DGDs dancing show. Really looking forward to a fun day, he's so funny but so full of energy!
Hope you are all well and have a lovely weekend. Take care. XX0 -
Morning all. Still in pain, slightly worse today, I can feel it down my arm too now. Oh well, it'll go eventually, like the kitchen light which hopefully one of the OHs friends will come and fix or replace [ he was onee of the ones who said if there'sanything I can do...well, yes there is actually
]
Don't worry TA,, I a o pretty much doing nothing, this op is the worst so far I've had for getting around, my whole side is affected. A lot of TV and reading is on the cards for the next week.Binge watching here I come....Might watch Peaky Blinders...
Good to hear your mother is actually listening now and doing better as a result Gers. dumpling, let's hope she does't come back! and if you did fancy a sweet treat, i think I used to use 3 or 4 ripe bananas, same of eggs , 15g of flour per egg, a little heap of that sweetener they sell in lidls and a handful of cranberries. Smash up the bananas, whisk in the eggs, whish in the flour, put into a muffin tin, put a few cranberries or sultanas in each one [they will sink] then cook in the oven until they're risen and brown. Very low calorie but good enough to amke you think you've eaten something sweet. Everyone raves about pineapple being the one thing that helps with eating snoozer, I did some pork effect chuck together with some and can confirm it was nice, for steve...Nelski, I love your boyfriend...just add a bit of butter, and another bit of butter [ then waving goodbye to a half pound of it]...get you all top secreted up
Glad to hear you sounding a bit more chatty SO. Wotcha Poppy Holly, tru. Have a good Saturday if you can... Non me fac calcitrare tuum culi0 -

Good morning everyone, and special hugs for taff.
My friend and I enjoyed our chicken dinner last night, and I was home by 9.30, and in bed soon after but slow to go to sleep- almost midnight and then awake at 5.00am, made a hot drink and came back to bed. Caught up with one of my brothers down under.
Coffee club this morning, and a bit of food prep this afternoon. I'm giving Reiki to a neighbour this evening, and to a friend tomorrow evening as thanks for looking after my cat over Christmas. As I get the benefit too, everyone's a winner
I hope you have the best day possible, with hugs to our poorlies. We're all another day closer to brighter longer days, and that definitely will be more noticeable by the beginning of February.0 -
Morning chums off to eldest DDs for dinner tonight so no cooking for me apart from a nice brunch which I have a yen for a nice plate of scrambled eggs and ham now to use up the last of my boiled gammon from this week.
I seem to have become not very keen on breakfast as such just recently and have brunch around 11 which suits me fine and then dinner around 6.mid afternoon its coffee and a digestive biscuit or two and I find thats more than enough for me.perhaps its the winter weather.Still I do eat quite a bit of fruit which is good for me
Thursday my DGD Katie arrived with her little one, and bless her we saw her take her first two steps which was lovely as DGD works part-time three days a week as a TA and was hoping she would be around to see Erin actually do it and not be told about it by her ma-in-law who looks after her during the work period .I can't believe where the time has gone Erin will be one in March and its only five minutes ago it seems that she was born. She is a real cutie and full of toothy smiles for everyone ,a very happy little soul and her and I had a great time banging pots and pans with wooden spoons and giggling
DGS Jack is doing well at Uni and messages me around 2-3 times a week asking for recipes etc so he has settled back into his routine OK, its his 19th birthday next month so we shall all be driving up to see him and I will take some home cooked goodies for him. His next brother down Henry is applying to Essex Uni in the hope of starting this September ,fingers crossed on his A level results though
Right I am off to hang my washing out as although its not very warm there is a slight breeze and the sun has struggled out so it will get a bit of a blow this morning and I can finish it off on the airer
Have a good weekend chums what ever you are doing

Morning ((((((((((hugs)))))))))) if you need one, Taff sorry to hear you have pain, have an extra hug!!
Yesterday I decided to try and put the Humax box to the factory setting, got as far as putting th number in, it would not take it, rang Humax and the chap sent me an email how to reset the number, still did not work...aargghhh OH told me to stop messing about with it and just order a new one that will record two programmes whilst we are watching another recorded one, so I did as I was told. He is paying for it, so fine. Had an email to say it would be arriving today.......excellent service. I will be able to set it up, I hope, today, wish me luck.
Better night last night, I managed not to sleep whilst OH was having his siesta, so was more than ready for bed......I put the light out before him, woke about 4.00am went to the loo and went back to sleep until OH woke me getting out of bed just after 8.00am. Sausage out for tonights dinner, toad in the hole. OH won a tin of fruit in the raffle on Monday, so we had some of that for dessert last night, will have the rest tonight.
Thats the box just arrived.
Its dry but very cold this morning, OH has been out and emptied the kitchen waste into the compost bin, he said it was a 'bit fresh'.0
