    Not from what you say!

To be insured for driving other cars see if your certificate mentions you being covered for driving other cars

If you have Driving Other Cars on your policy, it will match your standard cover, so if that covers commuting the answer is yes, you can drive other another car to work.

Dont forget your only 3rd party insured for it.. If you crash it, you may need to pay for recovery etc. And you will owe whoever a car.

Another thing, is the other car owned and already taxed and insured by someone else?

It is very very unlikely that you have the same standard of cover on another car that your policy offers. It is far more probable that you have the minimum 3rd party legal requirement to drive another car, and this ability to drive other cars has to be stated on the policy. This means that you are legally entitled to drive another car on the road but if you cause any damage to the car you are driving you have to foot the bill.

I think by cover, Zorillo meant SDP, SDP & commuting etc based on the wording of the response

Whatever cover you have in the policy is irrelevant as far as driving other cars cover is concerned.

If you have DOC cover it is shown on your certificate

If it's there, then whatever the purpose of the journey in the other car is driven for is irrelevant.

All DOC cover gives is the legal minimum of third party.

You seem to be implying that comprehensive cover not including commuting would still be covered for commuting but 3rd party only?
In other words that legal minimum third party covers ALL uses?

    Not "implying"!

If you have DOC stated on your certificate then the purpose of the journey undertaken in the other car is irrelevant!

So are you saying that someone with DOC could legally drive this other car for Hire and Reward (taxi) even if there own policy is SD&P use only??
