Powerline can have significantly differing throughput depending on locations of the end points within the same property.

Turn off all wifi and connect devices with cables.
  • Ok I will go over to my sons house and play with the system over weekend. I will try to turn off Wi-Fi and I will do a factory reset.on units .... I will report back ... I note your statement re throughput .... but can u offer any explanation as to why it can vary within a domestic premises given scale.
    Thanks once again ... mike

Have a read of the manual(s) before you go.

if you plug them in on the same physical cable they can work better that separate cables that join through RCD in the consumer unit.

I get 200mb-230mb on my non wifi dlan 500 AVplus and AVtriple
  • One question, it sounds like a large house, is all the electrical cabling on the same distribution box or does he have two distribution boxes?

Just that to work properly the primary socket and the target socket need to be in the same distribution box.

I would suggest starting from the beginning, go through basic set up again, check everything works in the same room and then put the target unit gradually further away to find out where it drops off. It could be that another socket in the same room provides a better signal.
What is this life if, full of care, we have no time to stand and stare
  • Many thanks .. only one distribution box. It us a good size detached house but nothing major that would introduce distance issues. As the crow flies distance between Devolo units is about 30 feet ... If u went through the walls. I will do a reset and setup from scratch and see where we are loosing the speed .. Thanks Mike

I have this and it works fine. The main devolo plug/device is plugged into an electricity socket next to our router (Virgin) on 1st floor. The second slave/devolo plug is plugged into an electric socket in the spare bedroom. Total distance around 30feet. Does have to be reset from time to time.
  • Many thanks. Good to hear. Mike
