Neff Oven Fan element needs replacing again

The element has failed for the third time. First replacement lasted 12 months and second about 18 months.
I'm wondering if this is normal wera and tear. The oven is used most days.
The oven was in the house when we bought it and I'm wondering if the element failures indicate the oven should be replaced. I don't know the age of the oven is but it could be about 18 years old.
Any suggestions please?

How does it fail? Does it just stop heating or is the side blown out with a rupture of the skin? If it just fails to provide heat, it is likely a failure of the internal winding, therefore maybe low quality? If the side blows out (I have seen this happen) it lends to the fact that the element has been damaged and the outer skin contacts the inner winding causing a short to earth.
What do the suppliers of the element say when you report an early failure?0 -
I have a similar situation. non-original elements often lasted only 6 months. Original ones last 12-18 months. I now have a spare one on the ready so it is just a swap out by myself. (if I had to have an engineer come out to do it, then the oven would have long gone).0

Is the fan working at full speed? If not that can cause premature failure.0

The first time it went there were flames coming from the element for a few seconds and a lot of smoke. The second time it just didn't heat up when the fan was switched on. The last time I wasn't in the kitchen but when I went to check on the food the oven wasn't warm. I presume there must have been some flames again as there was a black deposit on the oven surfaces.

They said elements are only guaranteed for 12 momths.0 -

The first one we replaced ourselves but the second proved more difficult so an engineer came out to do it. Hence my thinking the oven has to go!0 -

Sorry, I don't know as I've never taken any notice of the fan.0 -
we used to have a Bosch oven and after a few years the element blew and was replaced.
Just over 12 months later the new element needed changing so i arranged for this to happen.
This element last 6 months so the engineer changed it under the warranty.
After about 12 months this element again needed changing.
The engineer told us during these processes that many of the element that the manufacturers use would come from the same supplier so we decided after the final one to just replace the oven and buy another make.
This was about 4/5 years ago and its worked a treat since it was changed0 -
I have a Siemens oven that is only 4 years old and I recently had the same problem. I don't have the money to buy a new one at the moment so I exchanged the oven fan motor part and it has been working perfectly for the last few months. We will se what the future brings but I hope for some more years...
And in case someone else is looking for this part, I found it at a webshop called Fiyo for a reasonable price.0
