To me to switch to another provider on a 1yr fix with no exit fee is a £36 saving either way so a no brainer ??

Depends if you attach any value to better customer service levels. I'm currently with Avro and whilst I've had no issues to date, they are a "mare" to get hold of...email contact takes longer than snail mail should.
Also, if you read the thread @gsmlnx linked to they are very slow to process refunds of credit balances or if you leave them.

We are getting off track here. What do people think please see my first post.

You may get more on track responses if you take the time to complete your thread title and the highly relevant mistake you made in your fourth post!

How can anyone tell you if a £36 annual saving is worth switching for? Some might consider it a trivial saving, some might think it well worth 20 minutes of your time. Only you will know your own answer. If you are nearing the end of your current contract, then you need to compare versus what you will pay if you don't switch, not what you pay now.
