Ccj set aside

Just new to the site. Was looking for some advice. Back in 2015 a ccj was added to my credit file (which I only found out about last week) it's for £852 for a personal money matter. The court documents were posted to my privately rented flat but my landlord binned the documents as I never received them. I was staying with my mum as she was fighting cancer so I didn't have the opportunity to reply to the court within the 14 days. I've offered to pay the money owed but it would only be marked as satisfied on my credit file. I was wondering if it would be worth going to court and trying to get this set aside under the grounds of not getting the court papers due to looking after my mother.
There was no agreement in writing concerning the money owed it was a gentleman's agreement. I'm happy to.pay it but would like my credit file cleared. If I try to set aside I would have to pay £255 in court fees is this worth trying??
I'm new to all this so please be gentle .

No.
You entered into a gentleman's agreement ... and then welched on it
(Was that gentle enough?)
