Have a blanket on the sofa to grab if you start to get a bit chilly. Don't automatically go for the heating.

A long cardigan and thick socks.

Two sets of curtains, one by the window, the other in the room if bay window, yes room gets smaller but it's comfy.

Hot drinks / stews in winter.

Close off rooms when not in use and turn the radiator down to minimal.

Rugs on top of carpet for extra comfort.

Hot water bottle instead of electric blanket.

    Extra blankets on the bed.

    PJ's.

do you have a loft hatch?
I believe the government's Eco scheme is still there, offering free loft insulation for those with not enough, or none.

For me, that was cheap, (like £0) and easy enough to get all 3 lofts done. Yes, I know, a lot of lofts, and big ones too, but the work was done really well.

I know they are not cheap (but if you need heavy curtains that costs money) I've got 2 radfan's and they do warm up the hallway & the kitchen (both are cold in my house)

Draft Excluders at bottom of doors especially front door.

Heavy floor length curtain inside Front Door (just during winter take it down in spring)

Radiator heat reflectors behind the rads

Fleece Gillet or Fleece zip tops are warmer than cardigans. Fleece pyjamas.

Thermal Fleece under blanket mattress protectors (again remove in Spring)

Hot water bottles on a sofa under a blanket spreads the heat out.

2 pugs and a dachshund in bed prove to be very good at keeping you warm at night, with the benefit that unlike a hot water bottle they don't get cold. I usually have one pug in front of me, one behind my knees and the dachshund along my back!

I am assuming of course, you don't mind dogs! I understand this isn't a solution for everyone!!

According to my neighbour the previous occupants of our house used to use the smallest bedroom as a sitting room...... begs the question why they bought the house.

We have a sun room we use as a summer sitting room but use the lounge in the winter. If we get a sunny winter day the heat created in the sunroom is great for heating my office when I open up the doors between.
