We have a Humax PVR model HDR1800T which we have connected to our LG Television which is not a smart television. Everytime we switch it on a message appears saying Network settings. this message takes about 2 minutes to disappear and is nuisance. How do we stop it appearing on the screen everytime we switch the Humax box.on. we do have broadband in the house but obviously without a smart TV.it is irrelevant to this issue. Any suggestions please..

debitcardmayhem is right and broadband is not irrelevant. Connect to the internet with a Cat 5 or 5e Ethernet cable from your router. If the router is situated too far away, you could buy a WiFi dongle and connect that way, but you need a fairly good Download speed.
Dongle, something like this: -

According to the Tech Specs here:

- WiFi is "Via USB Dongle"I think this job really needs
a much bigger hammer.

EDIT: Just noticed that it supports WiFi dongles, but to me it looks like that only *their* dongle will work.0 -

I doubt the Humax would have built-in drivers for either of those.
A travel router can be configured to work though:

That's rubbish (because I used to have one). You need to set it in 'Bridge' mode, and it resets the connection randomly. Throughput is really bad too.
No it's not rubbish. I have it's predecessor the TP-Link WR702 in Client mode and I used to use it on a Freeview PVR, worked fine for me for the IP TV stations on Freeview.
As the OP's Humax has no Wi-Fi how did it work with the router work in Bridge mode?0 -

'Bridge mode' is slightly different than 'Client mode'.
In Client mode the radio on the router behaves as a client (to the existing WiFi network), but any device connected to the Ethernet port will normally take the address from the router, rather than the main network (effectively, this is a new network).
In Bridge mode the radio does the same thing, but all the devices connected to the LAN port connect directly to the main network (as if they were connecting using the main WiFi).0 -
MENU > Settings > System > Internet Setting
via the Humax remote should get the OP to the menu where Internet things are set up... It may be possible to disable internet altogether or set back to the box defaults when this nag screen should disappear. DHCP IP assignment (not manual). Content share should be off, as should FTP Server.
If all else fails... Make a note of all scheduled recordings and then do a 'Factory Reset/First time install'. That will wipe the schedule, do a full retune and reset things. It should be happy if no ethernet cable or USB wifi dongle is found with no internet connection.
NB All recordings are safe with a factory reset!
Hummy.tv and MyHumax.org are the Humax expert forums and have info on which WiFi dongles will work on this and it's brother 2000T. IF the OP wants the smart feature to work (and while they are supported).0 -
