Staingard refusing to cover damage

We bought a dining table and chairs, and paid extra for staingard. Over the Christmas period, the wife used a shiny or foil-table paper with print on it. We removed it when we took the decorations down and there was ink transfer from the paper on to the table surface.

Managed to remove some of it with a sponge but it was extensive.

We had Staingard cover on it so we asked them to review it. The technician from Homeserve tried to use a brillo pad which didn't work and also left some fibres embedded in the table top. He said it needed sanding down and refinishing, and that they'd get in touch.

I now get an email stating:
"By any other cause not specifically mentioned under What is Covered."

How do I proceed given that I bought staingard because it offered "5 YEAR STAIN & ACCIDENTAL DAMAGE COVERAGE"

What does the paperwork say is/is not covered under the policy?

Does your paper work include the following sttement

Cover is not provided for staining or damage,
accidental or otherwise, which has occurred or
accumulated over a period of time or is from
normal everyday use, such as an accumulation
    of dye transfer.
