NS&I processing times

Can anyone who has any recent experience investing in NS&I products tell me roughly how long it took from when the forms were sent off (by post) to when you received notification that the investments had been opened.
I am a new investor with them.

I sent NS&I a message through their "contact us" form on the website, the one where they "aim to reply within 24 hours" and 5 days later, I've still not heard anything back from them.

I opened accounts in December and was up and running in a couple of days, but that was an online application as I don't have any special circumstance that would make me need to use a paper application by post.

Although I haven't needed to phone them, I do agree you're likely to get a better answer that way than dropping a message into an online contact form where they only aim to reply X hours later. When you call them in office hours, they aim to reply within a few seconds of hearing you ask the question :)
  • Thanks for the replies.

I couldn't phone them as I'm not currently in the UK and the international phone lines where I am are pretty poor.
I had a reply yesterday and was told that they should start processing the forms about 4 or 5 days after receiving them (I had to submit paper forms as being non UK resident I couldn't do it online) and that it will probably take a couple of weeks as they will have to do checks to ensure that I am who I say I am.

Then not as straight forward as being UK resident. It is what is in such circumstances.
