Transferring Property Ownership

I've had probate granted on my father's estate. His house was left to me so now I need to transfer it into my name.

The house is on a 999 year lease and I have all the documents, but there's nothing registered at the land registry (he lived there for 60 years).

Is this a job for a solicitor or is it possible to do this myself?

Some older properties do not appear on the register, it will need to be registered for the first time.

You should do this if you are keeping it, but if you are selling then that maybe better left with the purchaser.

    Do you have the deeds?

To be really sure of registering a good title you need to use a solicitor. Not a DIY job or one to delay. If you decide to sell doing the lack of registration will only delay things and may put the purchaser off.
