Credit score plummet - arrow global

Options
Hello everyone,

Could anyone please advise:

I have been trying to build my credit score since it was decimated by my ex-wife’s actions while we were married, and I had done quite well bringing my score up.

There was one outstanding debt on my account, a closed joint bank account which my ex-wife ran into unauthorised overdraft after we separated. That was from June 2012.

This month my credit score dropped by over 120 points. The reason being a company called Arrow Global who have purchased the bank overdraft debt. The bank debt now shows zero, and under “closed accounts” is a new entry for arrow global with the same balance as the previous bank account debt.

As I’ve had no contact from or with the bank in question since June 2012, I assume the debt is statute barred?

Also, will arrow global’s new entry stay on my file for 6 years from the date they purchased the debt? If not, at what point would the entry no longer show on my file?

I gather they are allowed to do what they have done on my credit file and I have no recourse?

Thank you
