Can you please share the address you wrote to? Was it the local store?"The only man who makes money from a gold rush is the one selling the shovels..."0

Im also having total crap with ikea, 4 trips in one week and all of them because of the poor standard of the quality of their goods, bookcase - damaged, bed - no slats and damaged - 4 drawer set - damaged, 2mtr high wardrobe - smashed in package, the patronising woman of the supposed customer services then proceeded to tell me i would have to wait 5 days for a replacement, i live less than 6 miles away from this store, and before anyone asks, i had it delivered because i am seriously disabled and cannot bring it home myself. Lets not even go to the 45 minute wait whilst they play soddin abba music on their customer service line, they do everything they can to stop you contacting them, no email addy as its always "not available today", ask that ridiculous cyber woman FAQ, with no answers to any question you want to ask, no matter what time of day you call some idiot tells you "sorry but there is at least a 30 minute waiting time for us to take your call" they obviously don't want to pay for staff or cant keep staff. Tonight i prepared and ate my dinner, washed up, dried and put all dishes away and still waited 10 minutes before my call was answered, way to go Ikea.
Ikea is customer services at its worst, they should be used as an example by other companies of how NOT to treat customers, and as for their disabled customers, they actively do their best to stop you even shopping with them. When i asked why didn't they have the disability scooters like every other high street store does i was told that Ikea cant have them because of their moving stairways, so i stated but you have lifts ???????? no said the guy (public relations he said was his job) Ikea wont have scooters, if disabled people want to shop with Ikea then they must bring their own !!!!!!!!!! They apparently have old 2nd hand wheelchairs that can be pushed around their stores, but like i pointed out - i shop alone and i don't normally use a wheelchair, but i also am unable to walk for miles and miles around their store either.
Its OK Ikea, i get exactly where you are coming from, you don't want disabled shoppers, their money isn't good enough.
The sooner Ikea crawl back to Sweden the better. Its Argos, B&Q and Homebase for me from now on. They love helping and serving me.
The upshot is i have to wait 5 days for a replacement wardrobe and i live less than 6 miles from the store, the delivery company they use (who are amazing guys) told me if they can let them have the wardrobe tonight then they are more than happy to deliver it tomorrow, but that is so so to easy for ikea. Absolute rubbish company and will never ever use them again.0 -
Lily I've read on here you can get petrol expenses if you ask.( might want to start new thread though)
Anyone else , you will need a sense of humour.
Don't deal with their central switchboard!its cost saving so they try never to let you speak to the store itself ( you can get the individual store number off the net)
I like ikea for some things, but it's only recently that I realised as one poster on here a few weeks ago succinctly put it " ikea are the ryanair of retailers" ( love ryanair too). In effect , you pays your money and you takes your choice. Because items are so good and cheap, to keep it this way they don't waste a spare cent on trivial issues.
I helped a friend who had a delivery problem with them , the errors and repeated errors were infuriatingly funny( almost) like a bad carry on film,I couldn't believe the lack of communication between departments-don't bother trying to deal on the phone- I managed to get to speak to a manager at the shop ( I live a long way from the problem store) but only by applying oextreme pressure to the switchboard operator at the shop who crumbled and put me through. As the op says definitely give it to them with both barrels. Even then the errors continued, the manager was charming but it's telling that when I made a comment about how nothing else could go wrong he said something like " don't bank on it" ha ha even they know..and of course.. The delivery company were contractors and totally incompetant( second time) tried to deliver totally wrong item to wrong name first time for example.. Obviously delivery is put out to tender .. Something about monkeys and peanuts..0 -

IKEA provide manual wheelchairs for their customers (I know as my friend is disabled). We've asked about mobility scooters before and unfortunately as IKEA is a global firm their policies are not country specific (unless the law requires it). If IKEA global won't allow the scooters then the UK stores can't just provide them.0
