The fact that such a material fact wasnt declared and discussed up front would have me running for the hills. You made the best decision.

We withdrew our offer when we found out the vendor wanted to retain ownership of a path down the side of a garage and create a ROW up the drive, all so he could maintain a brand new brick wall between the property we were trying to buy and the one he'd built next door.


Unfortunately we'd spent about £1K on a survey and fees before this showed up in the draft contract, so if you've got out early before spending much, consider yourself very lucky.

So glad you've withdrawn offer. I can just imagine planning permission being granted for all sorts of things. What strange behaviour - go find a normal house buying is stressful enough as it is
