Targus Notepac - Blue Notebook Carrying Case - £2 Delivered

Surely this can't be right if we had seen this advertised in a shop they would have to honour this price, so why don't Play.
unfortunately not, no shop is obliged to sell an item at an advertised price (whether the price is correct or not), the advertised price is known as "an invitation to treat" and only means the shop might be prepared to sell the item if it comes to an agreement with you, the contract is only made when the retailer accepts your payment.
If they decide not to sell to you, there is no legal obligation on them to even give a reason why not.

Yep - in fact, I think even if Play had taken the money they could just refund us and say they don't have the stock (both situations have happened on plenty of well-known cases on here in the past and no-one seems to have got anything out of the retailer). Though Play must be confident they haven't taken money for the £2 orders, seeing as they're still showing stock of the item.
Unfortunately best just to forget about this one now, as with all the other unhonoured misprices...0
