Meaning that there's nothing at all about the tv aerial in the contract? There's no implied right to a tv signal.

I presume you've spoken to your landlord about it, so what reason have they given for doing it?

I actually asked the person showing me round whether it had one and she pointed a cable out - the issue was that there IS a coaxial cable in the living room, but it comes from a satellite dish that's also there - which does not work with my NOW TV box. I guess that's my mistake for not knowing there was a difference.

Get a freesat box and plug it into the coaxial cable from the satellite dish, solves your problem and gives you the freeview channels for around £50, it's less hassle than installing an extension;
