While I applaud services like MSE that aim to find the lowest price, isn't this at a cost? The lowest price is not necessarily the best, or even good, value. By choosing, say, Sky or Talktalk broadband you may get cheap rates for a while but the quality of service is usually very poor. Ditto for energy, choose the cheapest provider and you can often forget about getting any kind of service - at best you'll be trying to explain your problem to a customer service agent in Bangalore and that only after a long wait.
Isn't it time to include a 'service quality' ranking together with costs so that consumers can make a more informed decision.

Its been said many times on here before that Money Saving isnt necessarily about something being the cheapest.
Everyone has their own versions of money saving and therefore needs to do their own due diligence as to whether something suits their needs.0 -
Many many post for phone BB electric gas etc ask one simple question . How can i get cheaper or cheapest .
Few to none ask about customer service . Also customer service can be very variable . Thats from the CS standpoint and actual customer expectations and input.0 -
Getting the best is such a subjective term and agree that getting the cheapest is not always getting the best. I think MSE is just that, money saving, and achieving that goal with consideration to overall value is a more balanced approach.0

My fibre BB is listed at £15.99, I negotiated and am paying £3.51. I am getting the same level of service as the person paying £15.99. Similarly MrsM's phone contract is listed at £14.99, again negotiated to £4.99. Paying more does not always lead to a better service.0

What's wrong with Sky broadband? It's cheaper than BT, and slightly faster for me. It's been pretty reliable (apart from some issues with the wiring in my own home - not their fault).
I don't think BT's Indian call centres were ever described as giving the best customer service either. If it sticks, force it.
If it breaks, well it wasn't working right anyway.0
