Severe Disability Premium - Advice

Hi
Just looking for some advice please I work full time and receive PIP (Lower care High mobility) My mum lives with me and is retired she does work a few hours a day escorting children to school in a taxi.
I think has far as I am aware carers allowance cannot be claimed because she is retired and aged 66. I cannot understand if I would be able to claim severe disability premium? I have only recently become aware of this.
Any advice would be appreciated thanks.

Severe disability premium is an amount added to means tested benefits - JSA/ESA/IS/HB.
Since you are working full time it is unlikely that you would be claiming any means tested benefits that are relevant. Please correct me if I am wrong.
You are also correct that your mum cannot claim Carer's Allowance as she is in receipt of a state pension.
Plus, in order to claim the SDP with means tested benefits there are criteria you have to meet.
1. You receive a qualifying benefit (you do, daily living PIP)
2. No one claims Carer's allowance for you
3. There are no non dependents living with you unless they are also receiving a qualifying benefit - your mum is classed as a non dependent and does not appear to be receiving a qualifying benefit = daily living PIP /mid care DLA/Attendance allowance.0
