Personal Emergency Alarm to iPhone? Exist?

I do hope this is the correct forum for this, but I am looking for a Personal alarm that someone elderly could use/wear and when they fall, it call directly to a specific mobile phone number?
My Father has terminal cancer, and is now very unsteady on his feet. We would prefer an Alarm he could wear but instead of it calling an outside source, it just needs to call my mums mobile immediately incase he falls.
Does something like this exist? I have had a look, but can only see Emergency alarms that call outside help/Ambulance, or personal alarms that deafen everybody in the street.
Or if someone has any other ideas for this situation, then even better?
Many thanks for your help

You can register any numbers you like in any order with the call centre. These alarms do not go direct to emergency services.I am not a cat (But my friend is)0

How much money are you prepared to spend? This is a system account and does not represent a real person. To contact the Forum Team email forumteam@moneysavingexpert.com0 -
Here you go, Argos.
Takes 2 sims, so could be separate PAYG providers just in case {I've got Asda [EE] and O2
Has large SOS button which will text to 3 numbers you choose, like you and who ever you want
Flip top so can't press in error

£25
No connection to seller except I have one for much same reason, it's always in my pocketEight out of ten owners who expressed a preference said their cats preferred other peoples gardens0 -

Certainly seems excellent value.
In a way this is similar to the debate on the DIY forum about house alarms....
It is only as good as the response it triggers. Will you always be near enough to effectively respond or be able to contact somebody who will?
Generally the more elaborate systems that go through to a monitoring station are more reliable and often, once triggered, allow the station to talk to the person even if they are on the floor etc and to listen for signs of distress. They can then call the next of kin, others on the list or even the police or ambulance if necessary.
I would be concerned about an elderly person reliably keeping a mobile phone charged, switched on and always on their person. They still have to open it and find a small button in an emergency.
Obviously still a lot better than nothing of course!0 -
How many months does the device's battery last on one charge (an important factor if it's to be used as a personal emergency alarm)?
FWI mine last about a week in my pocket unused
PS, SOS button is not a tiny thing, even the normal buttons are quite large compared to "normal" phonesEight out of ten owners who expressed a preference said their cats preferred other peoples gardens0 -
duplicate thread here :
