Ebay sale disputed transaction

Hi And thanks for reading this post.

I sold an old aiwa tape deck on ebay as spares/repairs. The drive belts had perished.

This is the descrption i used:-

Top of the range Aiwa F990 Cassette player / recorder.

Fine Cassette player. Very Good Reputation.

Best Price On The Net.

I paid £550.

Matt black chassis finish with black front.

few external scratches. Drive belts have perished, can be purchased on ebay for £12.

Sold as spares repairs. No returns. No negative feedback.

Please see my other listings for very rare and unobtainable items.

The buyer is complaining because after replacing the belts another fault showed up further down the line which i knew knew nothing about.

What can i do? I know nothing about electronics and i thought stating very clearly that it is sold as strictly spares/repairs no returns no negative feedback i should cover myself.
What do you think.

Looks to me like it was ok apart from a few scratches and perished belts. You over hyped it. Spares and repairs only should have been at the top of the page in big letters with nothing stating how good it is. As for saying no neg feedback - you were asking for trouble.

Yes you have to accept the return or offer a partial refund i think. You stated the drive belts were perished and that came across that this was the only fault. Next time state "drive belts definitely perished, not sure if any other faults. sold as described for spares or repairs only."

As the other poster said you bigged it up too much

  • The mistake you made in that listing was the description "used" (which shows in the search as pre-owned). Some people will bid at that stage without reading the rest of the listing in which the most important bit is burried. Like the others said, you were really asking for trouble with this listing.
