£800 is £666.66+VAT.
Do you really think a tradesman is going to be able to supply, fit, take away the old fence and still make a profit out of £666?Make £2026 in 2026

As I've never ran a fencing firm, nor hired a tradesman before, I really don't know. Which is why I've asked on here.
I've obtained a couple of more quotes and indeed £800 appears to be an unrealistic estimate. I guess £1500 ish is more resonable?
All the best.0 -
You could easily price up the materials and make a rough estimate as to how long it would take (or ask the company providing the quote).Thinking critically since 1996....0

It seems right.
18 metres is 9 6ft long panels so they are charging £120 per complete panel. If that includes the digging the hole and the postcrete, and panel and gravel board then its about right.
You can buy the parts yourself for £50-£60 a section so labour is £60 a hole.
£800 wouldnt even cover materials.
I think you could find cheaper but it will be closer to their £2100 than your £800.
They are at the top end but its not wild.0 -
I worked for a friend who has a fencing company in Essex, and he used to quote approx £100 per 6ft bay, supplied and fitted. More for fancy decorative panels.
You fence alone at 18M = 9 bays so that would be £900 approx, without the gates.
And that was 3 years ago when I worked with him0
