Started a new job and got a letter from council HELP

Hello,
So I have recently started a new job and I received a letter from the council regarding my housing benefits. Stupidly I thought the process for me coming off the benefits would be automatic. I.E. the job informs DWP, DWP inform the council, and I'm off.
I have since filled out the form the Council gave to me and posted it back with all my start dates, money I have etc. I believe they paid me £150 before suspending my claim.
Obviously, I'll most likely have to pay that money back, I have it ready to pay back and have offered to, ofcourse with an apology for being naive on the matter. The question I have is are they going to investigate me? Or close my claim down since I have given them evidence of my new job etc. I would assume the latter but from reading some of the horror stories on this website I'm quite concerned for a stressful, drawn-out process.

What benefit? Would you not be entitled to a four week run on of housing benefit anyway?0

The 4 weeks run on of housing benefit will depend which benefits you were claiming before you started work. Income Related JSA/Income Support and Income Related ESA are 3 of them. See link.

All changes in circumstances must be reported. DWP do share information with the local council but it's still your responsibility.
Any over payment you have will need to be repaid. I highly doubt they will close your claim if you're still entitled to some housing benefit.0
