Irreparable tyre puncture and seller claim
Hello,
On November 2018 I've bought 4 new Michelin tyres. On Saturday I saw the screw in the tyre. I went to the tyre service shop and they told me that it is irreparable because it is on the tyre corner (the side of the tyre is less durable). Then I found that the internet shop has the Lifetime Guarantee so they "will provide a replacement tyre where irreparable damage has been caused as a result of normal road use"
So I've send the email to they claim department with all information and they respond that they don't cover it due to this being "accidental damage". So I checked the web site again and the exclusion list and there is only "Accident damage" so for me that means they don't cover the tyre if I for example hit something (other car). I think the tyre puncture is not the Accident.
For now they only offer 15% discount for new tyre.
I wonder if I should take 15% or should I argue with them.

I would go back to them again and ask for clarification. Tell them that you believe their conditions only exclude damage as part of an accident. If you believe you are correct I would persist a little more before accepting their discount, or going elsewhere.

It seems unrealistic to expect the supplier to guarantee against things over which he has no control.
Was driving over the screw an accident, or did you do it on purpose?0 -
Blackcircles?
https://www.blackcircles.com/lifetime-guarantee
Certainly reads as if road debris should be covered, and when they launched it, they explicitly gave punctures as an example of what would be covered.

The tyre service shop (when I went to repair the tyre) adds the cover to the tyres sold by them.
In US Michelin adds some kind of care plan that they replace the tire in case of irreparable defect (I think you have to buy 4 tyres in order to be covered).
So the internet shop could add something similar to be competitive with other tyre shops. They cover some part of the new tyre purchase depends of the tread depth (40-100% discount). If they don't cover this kind of damage I can't see any other problem that they cover with they lifetime Guarantee other that manufacturing defect which in fact is covered by manufacturer. So what is the point of giving guarantee if you can't use it.
Please remember that they wrote as a main point:
"will provide a replacement tyre where irreparable damage has been caused as a result of normal road use"
I cound't see the screw when I was driving over it (and I think it had to happen when I parked because of the place when the screw is.0 -

But that guarantee doesn't seem to apply to Michelin, only "the Blackcircles.com Quality Choice and Taurus tyre range".0 -
Haha, I've missed that. So I'm going to take 15% discount.
Thank you for help0
