BW Legal Letter of Claim

    Hi all

I sent an SAR to the PPC and a request to put the case on hold to BW Legal (thanks to some superb advice gathered here!), and fairly promptly received an email communication from the PPC, and a written letter from BW Legal, stating that my PCN has now been cancelled.

Does anybody else think this is unexpected? I can't fathom what has happened here. Either they are bluffing me and preparing to spring a court action on me when I'd thought this PCN had gone away, or one or both of these companies has broken data protection laws in some way and thought it best to appease me?

    How strange. Any thoughts?

    Excellent outcome for you.

Who knows the full reason(s), but the whole Britannia/BWL axis is little more than a debt collection exercise backed by veiled threats of legal action, hoping that motorists will be so traumatised by a solicitors letter that they will stump up more than £250 to avoid whatever it is in their fertile, but ill informed minds.

Anyone offering up resistance might well push their file into the 'too difficult' pile, with an ensuing discontinuation.

I wouldn't try to over analyse it, take it for what it is.

Britannia have cancelled a few at SAR stage, usually when it is apparent that payment was made, and the only error is a small keypad mistake (say, one digit out in the VRN input). The BPA disallows AOS members from pursuing 'minor keying errors' now.

So we can learn from these cases, we always tell people in your shoes to please chase up the SAR, so you get the results back, to expose what the issue as that they are hoping to sweep under the carpet by cancelling.
PRIVATE 'PCN'? DON'T PAY BUT DON'T IGNORE IT (except N.Ireland).
