Moorcroft don’t buy debts, they just manage them.

Either you have repaid the debt, or Halifax have sold it to someone else.

Interesting. I was unaware of that part.

Probably just a mistkae on Halifax's part then. Either was unless it is paid off you can get a CCJ.

So just so i understand this, with Halifax its currently settled and due to drop off my credit file in 12 months. If i stop paying Moorcroft they can a default on my credit file but only as the same default end date that the Settled Halifax was at? Either way the debt is off next year?
If a creditor passes the debt on to a DCA, then the DCA should use the same default date as the original creditor.

So, in your example, the original creditor marked the account as defaulted during 2014. Therefore, since the debt has been passed to DCAs, the DCA must use the same default date. If that is done correctly, then your DCA account should be removed from your credit file in 2020.

Moorcroft are just acting as collectors here, they can’t take any action whatsoever as it’s not there debt.

Contact the Halifax and ask them what’s going on.

Now I am confused. Are you saying Moorcroft should not mark the account as defaulted as they are simply managing the account? Thanks sourcrates :)

Again with the actually great point! All too busy debating matters rather than getting to the point. At least someone has clarity!

Yes, only the owner of a debt can mark your credit file, likewise only the owner can take legal action.

When a DCA just acts as a collector, they cannot do anything except advise their client.

I defaulted with Halifax CC in 2014 and the account is marked as partially satisfied yet I've not paid anyone or had any word from them or a DCA acting on their behalf since 2014.

It's listed status is 'Satisfied' on my Noddle report, and has 'PS' in the status history with no further updates since 2014.
