...i can't withdraw any money for a certain period, i.e - 10 months.
I want to be able to save 350pounds a month for 10 months but I've always given into temptation in the past and just blew the cash or 'dipped' into it till there's a nil blance
Is there a savings account where you can't withdraw any money unless you give at least 3 months notice?
Thanks for your help

Is the 10 month thing important to you?
There is the Skipton Christmas 2008 account.
You can save upto 250/month, but will only be able to withdraw the cash 24th November 2008. More details here:

Or there is the First Direct Regular saver at 8%. But you need to save for 12 months. I think you may also need a current account with them, but not sure about this.
Or you could google 90 day notice accounts.
Or you could buy premium bonds. I know they are not recommended as you may not earn anything extra in the period, but I buy them because it is a pain in the neck to withdraw the money.

Take a look at monthly savings accounts. The better accounts will pay at least 7-8% gross & some of the best accounts pay even more but may come with strings attached. The trouble is that some of these accounts do allow a limited number of withdrawals, some only allow £250 p.m. max to be invested & they all seem to run for 12 months.
Start by looking at Halifax @ 7% & LTSB @ 8%, then look at Yorkshire B.S. & Alliance & Leicester (A&L iirc has a linked current account).0 -
Yorkshire Building society allows you to save upto £500/month, with one penalty free withdrawl.
Also save a maximum of £20k.
