hi,looking for some advice regards my 7yr old mobile...i can no longer update apps due to running low on storage,thing is i only have 6 apps running on it!...seems my mobile is full of google bloat.my photos have been saved to the cloud, I dont have music,i dont have documents,videos,i installed a sd card and all it will accept is facebook and messenger,anything else I can do to free up space...thanks in advance.

If its got 8GB of storage the phones operating system will use maybe half of that. Id change it, look for 1 with 16 or 32GB of internal storage.

Fairly light user i think and just checked to see i have 20GB used out of 32GB.

System memory 6.72GB
Used space 10.57GB
Other 1.47GB
Cached data 1.84GB

3GB in audio, 1.27GB Video, 500MB images, 100MB documents and downloads.
Just clicked audio will be call recordings. Not cleared it out for a while.

thanks for replys,i am clearing cache on a regular basis,trying to shift anything onto the sd card is pointless,only 2 things that would move are fb and messenger...its all google stuff,tbh I dont even know what most of it is! ...afraid to start deleting things in case my phone turns into a potato!...think I might have bite the bullet and upgrade..

I had a similar issue with my 3 or 4 year old Galaxy S5.
I can't upgrade for another year or so so I've downloaded a custom rom and put that on instead.
If you're not confident tinkering with the phone it might be time to upgrade.

thank you pramsay13,no I,m not confident ..the updates are relentless,google has an update for your update..think I paid about 170 for it ..so all in all its been a good servant...then again I still have a nokia 3310!

I think that answers your question really. You could probably limp along for a little while, but, the real solution is a new phone. It owes you nothing and even a budget modern phone will make it look like a slug in comparison.

looking that way rumrat,prefer to buy a handset and use my own sim,i.ll have a wee look on hukd see if any bargains going,...anyone want to buy a j5 with no storage?....lol.
