Lloyds open banking app.

Does open banking work on the Lloyds mobile banking app for anybody as the lloyds website says it is "up and running now" but I've downloaded the app and I can't see the ability to add external accounts. It works though on the bank of scotland mobile app.

Anybody able to add other bank current accounts in the lloyds mobile banking app through open banking?
It doesn't work on my mobile and someone at lloyds told me they haven't rolled it out yet which doesn't tally up with the lloyds website which has these banners, one saying it's up and running.0 -
Nope, it's in my Halifax app but not my Lloyds app just yet.0

Same here. I can see it in my Halifax app but not in Lloyds.
It's also complete pants - all they offer is current accounts from 8 banks, 2 of which are LBG (Barclays, Santander, Nationwide, HSBC, Natwest and RBS, plus Halifax and BOS). No savings accounts, no Building Societies apart from Nationwide, no credit cards.
They make it sound as if their meager list the 'fault' of those who haven't yet signed up to Open Banking. But we know better......
I am persevering with Yolt for the time being, who are miles ahead of any of the others. Yolt are far from complete either, so don't get too excited.0 -
Tandem is OKish for consolidating balances from a reasonably wide range of accounts (although it keeps failing to update my Tesco accounts).0

A thought about using the Open Banking facility. I would recommend that you don't use the app from a specific bank as this, to some extent, locks you into the specific bank.
If at any time in the future you are switching bank, you could lose access to your Open Banking set-up and history. There is no way you can transfer/switch your Open Banking set-up and history to another bank. You'd have to start again from square one, and you'd have lost all your history.
It's much better, IMO, to choose one of the several independent personal finance manager apps which you can continue to use regardless of how many switches you make.0 -

Thanks all, thought it might have been an issue with my phone or something.
I've been using first direct internet banking plus for years and wanted to try the new banks open banking apps, early days but they all seem to be apps for mobile and pretty basic, hopefully they get round to make it for online banking as well at some point.0 -
I still use FD IB+ but it's getting increasingly unreliable.
I wouldn't fancy using any bank that I'm an active customer of for account aggregation. I just don't want a bank to have access to more information about me than they actually need.
I'm happy to share this data with Tandem though, because all they could do with it is try to sell me things.
Because I cycle money through a number of current accounts, the banks seem to think I'm a much wealthier customer than I actually am!0 -

On the positive side, the new apps allow you to set up budgets, download transactions automatically and allow you to categorise your transactions. And they are sexy because they are apps and don't force you to use an ancient and insecure browser.
All of the apps have a very long way to go, IMO, before they can touch the functionality of FD IB Plus etc, combined with MS Money. Seems we have pretty much had a technological stand-still for the last decade or two in this area.0 -
@ colsten
That's the 2nd time in a few days you've called bank accounts/apps 'sexy'.
Do you need to get out more?:D0
