Clearing up credit file and unsure of dates

Evening everybody!
Hopefully I’ve posted in the right place and someone might be able to clarify something for me?
So I have taken it upon myself to sort my credit file out! Mammoth task as last year it was completely shot (I didn’t think scores could go as low as mine did!). I was foolish going back to 2003 right up to 2011, living beyond my means, and taking out payday loans! I have severely learnt my lesson and have since had children and am trying to sort out my financial mess in order to buy a house in a few years time!
So....
A lot of my defaults and past loans have dropped off my file without me doing anything, managing to avoid any ccjs! (I do now have one ccj from last year but that has been paid so just got to wait another 5 years until that’s gone completely!)
There was one debt from QuickQuid for £620 which seemingly dropped off my file last year again without doing anything. It was bought by Mackenzie hall back in 2013, with an original default date of 30/04/2012, I have made the assumption this is why it has dropped off my file as it is now statute barred?
However, last week I received an email from PRA group offering me a settlement figure (I am aware PRA bought Mackenzie hall some time ago)
I have in no means accepted liability for this debt as of yet, however I have requested details from them regarding the debt.
They have come back to me with the same details as above, however they have stated that I made a payment to Mackenzie hall on 29/06/2013 (last payment they received) having checked my previous bank statements I can see I did indeed make a £20 payment to them on this date, (also one the previous month but nothing else)
Now what I need help with is what does this mean in terms of it being statute barred?
I’m assuming it will not be statute until 29/06/2019. BUT even if it isn’t SB what can they do if I don’t pay or acknowledge the debt?
Can this be re added to my credit file? Can they start ccj proceedings?
I have successfully managed to clear most of my debt, while maintaining my current credit accounts (very small credit building credit card, mobile phone account and tv package!- all accounts are in good standing.
I’d be ever so grateful for some clarification on this please!
Thank you

If you’ve made a payment then it’s not SB until 2019 as you already stated.
They could still apply for a CCJ yes.
Also ignore the scores and ratings and just concentrate on the data on your files0 -
Ok, thanks for that! So does that mean that they can add a new default on my file? Or that it will stay as it is and then if they applied for a ccj then that would obviously go on my file.
I don’t pay too much attention to the actual score, was just very shocked it could go that low
My main focus is clearing the debts and closing down all old accounts, which I am getting there slowly!
In their latest correspondence they stated that my file would be on hold until 20/2/19 in order for me to obtain any other information. After that calls and letters will resume!
Do I now just hold out hope that they don’t do anything before 29/06/19 (not long to go!)
Or do I acknowledge the debt now and make an attempt to clear it?
Unsure what’s the best step to take?
Also thank you for your speedy reply!0 -
They can’t add another default no.
It’s likely it will drop off your file come the default date anyways but it will still be enforceable despite not being there due to the payment being made.
You can either make a payment to pay it or wait and see what happens and risk a CCJ plus additional court fees added.
Or ride it out and hope.
Depends how moral you want to be...0 -
It’s already come off the credit files (all of them!)
Hence why I was a bit confused. As according to the last payment date it should still appear on my credit file surely?
So can they chase a debt if it’s no longer on my files?
I may just see what happens and see what they come back with, if they send a letter stating they will begin court proceedings then I will pay up and be done with it, before the ccj and then if nothing comes of it then so be it.
I just didn’t know if I had an argument to bring to them (was ready to tell them it’s SB, glad I didn’t as I would of acknowledged the debt essentially and then re started the 6 years again!0 -

Brilliant thank you both for clearing it up for me! I just couldn’t seem to make sense of it!
Will just wait and see what happens and if ccjs are mentioned I will sort it, if not it will be SB 29/06/19.
Thanks again for your help0
