Sky Dish - Who To Ask ?

I rent a property from an estate agent.
Who am i supposed to ask for reg. a dish ?
I called the estate agent, they then told me to phone management,
Management told me to phone the landlord, the landlord then said we have a communal dish ( which we dont ) and then told me to speak to the block managers - who then told me to speak to the landlord.

Going round in circles and being transferred/told to speak to different people

What do your neighbours have? Can you ask one of them. Even if they are owner/occupiers they will know the people to ask. Do you have a copy of the head lease?

On my block there are three out of six flats which have sky dishes. So half the properties do, and the other half don't. Thing is, the 3 who do, may have different landlords and agreements.

What does your tenancy agreement say about it?

Well there are consequences, if the landlord comes to visit and they see i have a sky dish. I could lose my bond money or be asked to take it down.

What does your tenancy agreement say?

Beyond that, you are also bound as a tenant not to cause damage to the structure of the building. Drilling holes through the wall could be construed as damage - so get your landlord's written consent (or get consent from the agent who is acting for him).

An alternative could be to get implied consent: write to the landlord/agent informing him of your intention to install a dish, which would involve a small hole through the external wall into the bedroom (or whatever) unless you hear from him refusing permision.

Keep a copy of the letter. Of course if he responds, you'll have to comply with whatever he writes in his response.

Your contract btw is with the landlord (-whoever is named as landlord), not the letting agent (yes I know they did all the paperwork) not the freeholder not the managing agent.

In your shoes I would write a calm polite letter to landlord requesting permission.

No. That is not how it works.

Your deposit is safe; the dish is yours and you will not need to take it down
